After graduating from Texas Tech University with her degree in Political Science, Jodie "accidentally" went on a cattle call audition in New York City and booked her first pilot for Aaron Spelling. In 1992, she joined the Screen Actors Guild and began an intensive two year program with Baron Brown Studios where she studied acting with DW Brown.

She has appeared as the lead actress in dozens of films and as a series regular in several TV series including "Age of Love" for NBC. She recently appeared as a guest star on "NCIS: Los Angeles". In 2019, Jodie landed the role of "Julie" as a series regular on "The Real Geezers of Beverly Hills."
