pt.1 - Step-Mom called late at night. Her voice was raspy and she sounded like she'd been crying. Step-Mom was worried about Alex. She said he hadn't answered her calls in weeks. A neighbor had told her that he quit his job and hadn't left his apartment in just as long. She knew something bad had happened between us when I moved out a few months before, but she had no idea what was really going on. I told my Step-Mother I'd go check on him.
