Biography

Joseph Wallace is a BAFTA Cyrmu nominated animation and puppetry director. His award-winning work spans commercials, viral campaigns, music videos, short films and sequences for feature films and television. Described as ‘one of the UK’s most extraordinary stop-motion directors’ by London International Animation Festival, his work has been praised for its cinematic quality and unique aesthetic.

His 2017 music video for Sparks was named one of the ten best British animated music videos of all time by Anim18 and led to Wallace creating stop motion sequences for Edgar Wright’s documentary feature ‘The Sparks Brothers’. Described by Mark Kermode as ‘dark wonders’, Wallace’s segments were nominated for Best Animation at the Cinema Eye Honours in New York in 2022. His celebrated short ‘Salvation Has No Name’, won various Grand Prix at top animation festivals, was long listed for both a BIFA and a BAFTA and received the Jury Special Mention for Unifrance Prix du Court Metrage at Cannes 2023.

Joseph is a BAFTA member and talks regularly about animation and film at festivals and universities around the world.
