**The midlife void**

I think seven 50-minute episodes feel long for a story like this, quite simple and devoid of narrative substance, in which essential plot points are revealed at the irritating pace of a Malaysian drop. The leitmotif is a lethal love triangle fueled by a midlife crisis, where Clark Forrest (Jason Bateman), a well-known local television weatherman, and Floyd Smernitch (David Harbour), his new sign language interpreter for deaf viewers, develop a very close and deep friendship, confessing their feelings of being stuck in their respective marriages.
