I think there's a fair smattering of allegory here, not least the tree on the world upon which our kitten starts from as it looks longingly into an inviting universe from the safety of home. When it boards a makeshift aeroplane and takes off into a world of brac-a-brac filled contraptions, it encounters some creatures that are friendlier the others but after a while begins to relish the security of home.
