This marks the debut of maestro Yandy Laurens, and you can already see the roots of his directorial voice here. On the surface, it may look like a cliché family film, but Yandy manages to elevate it into something more than just a standard “family drama.” He weaves a story about social realities and surviving financial pressure without falling into the trap of poverty porn.
