This is all-in-all a decent remake of an original that didn't have that much going for it other than its sheer shock-value. This adaptation weaves in some characters, a message about gentrification, some yokals, and dilapitated abandoned towns to make it more than just 'scary person with wood-cutter engine'. I think the movie does this reasonably well. There is precious little to work with but the movie chugs along, the actors are all pulling their weight, the direction is solid and the movie is shot proficiently.
